Jakusta Culture Camp |
Ed Smarch and Family is an historical part of the Yukon. Their ancestors have been here thousands of years. In that time, they have learned to survive an ice age and invasion of other peoples into their lands.
Ed has dreamed of making a camp to show his extensive family history, culture , hand made clothes, carvings for a very long time and now we are most happy to present his camp called ‘ Jakusta’ , which started operation July 2006 after the first successful tour of Japan of an all Native group ,with Ed and three other Native members.
Here in you will find, information on how to get to Yukon, where to contact Ed, who to book with and what Ed and Family offers .There are times when there are German, Chinese and Japanese translators on hand at the camp but there are also times when there are not, so please use your English the best of your ability!
For the summer season of 2006 we offer:
The camp as a film location for any filming relating the Smarch Family or what they make or do . Please take care to ask, before you film anything or record anything. Many Native stories have been exploited by non Natives with no permission to do so. We welcome the chance to work with or offer the camp as you outdoor location center!
